Required Viewing Movies (RQV): REVIEW

Strengths

MASH is a brilliant blend of dark humor and poignant drama.

Altman’s direction creates a realistic and immersive atmosphere of the MASH unit.

The film doesn’t shy away from the brutality of war, but it uses humor as a coping mechanism for the characters and a way to critique the absurdity of war itself.

Donald Sutherland and Elliott Gould deliver iconic performances, perfectly capturing the film’s balance of humor and seriousness.

The supporting cast is equally impressive, creating a believable and engaging ensemble.

Weaknesses

The film’s dark humor and surgical procedures can be disturbing for some viewers.

The pacing can be slow at times, focusing on character interactions over a plot-driven narrative.

Why M*A*S*H is Required Viewing

MASH is a timeless classic that remains relevant today. It’s a film that challenges viewers to confront the harsh realities of war while reminding us of the importance of humor and camaraderie in the face of adversity. However, due to its dark humor and occasional violence, viewer discretion is advised.
