Required Viewing Movies (RQV): REVIEW
Strengths
Fiddler on the Roof is a visual and auditory feast.
The film boasts stunning cinematography that captures the beauty of the small village and the vastness of the surrounding landscape.
The iconic songs, like “If I Were a Rich Man” and “Tradition,” are infectious and perfectly integrate with the narrative.
Topol delivers a phenomenal performance as Tevye, imbuing the character with warmth, humor, and deep humanity.
The supporting cast is equally strong, creating a vibrant portrait of the village community.
Weaknesses
The film’s portrayal of Jewish culture is somewhat romanticized and avoids some of the harsher realities of shtetl life.
Additionally, the three-hour runtime can feel long at times, with some scenes dragging.
Why Fiddler on the Roof is Required Viewing

The timeless themes and unforgettable music make it a must-see for anyone who appreciates a good story beautifully told. However, due to some mature themes and the film’s length, parental discretion is advised for younger viewers.
